7th Annual Spring for Sidewalks 5K run/1 mile walk - May 18th 8am
Proceeds benefit sidewalk repair and replacement in Kingsville Township!
Organized by Infield Chiropractic and the Kingsville Public Library, the event raises funds to improve and replace sidewalks in downtown Kingsville especially to provide a safe route connecting to Kingsville Elementary School. “Spring for Sidewalks 5K” begins and ends at Infield Chiropractic Clinic, 6177 Route 193, Kingsville, Ohio.
Race directors are Tyler Infield, D.C., DACBSP® and Kingsville Public Library Director Mariana Branch.
“Spring for Sidewalks” currently has raised over $10,000 for new sidewalks which they plan on working with the Township Trustees and Kingsville residents to perform phase 2 of the project this year. The first phase of new sidewalks was completed in 2016 along the half-mile route on the west side of Route 193 linking Kingsville Elementary School with the Post Office at Route 84.
Phase 2 will continue north on Route 193 in Kingsville descending down the hill working towards the North Kingsville border.
“We’ve been making considerable progress, and the community support is overwhelming.” said Dr. Infield. “Our primary goal is to make the sidewalks safe for kids and adults. We also want to provide a better quality of life for the Kingsville residents as well getting them off of the busy highway of 193 and onto safer sidewalks.”
“Spring for Sidewalks 5K” offers routes for runners and walkers. Both include hills and are completed in about 20-60 minutes.
The 5K route takes runners south on 193 to North Wright Street, south and then left onto Priest Street, continuing across Route 193 to Creek Road, south on Sheldon, west on Academy Street, south on School Street, east on East Main Street, north on Sheldon, east on Creek Road, south on Mill, where runners turn around and head back north on Mill. They go west on Creek and Priest Streets, north on Wright to Route 193 and back to Infield Chiropractic. Walkers follow a one-mile route from Infield Chiropractic to Kingsville Township Square and back. End-of-race snacks and beverages for 5K participants are provided by Orlando’s Supermarket.
