Vision Statement
Kingsville Public Library is dedicated to protect
intellectual freedom; and to provide a
welcoming place where our community has the opportunity to pursue lifelong learning and
have access to the human record. |

Mission Statement
Kingsville Public Library serves to provide resources for lifelong learning in
response to the needs of our changing community. |
|
Service Responses and Goals: |
|
I. Serve as an Information and Resource Center for the Community |
Partnership with the county, state and other agencies
to provide and share resources;
Provide a balanced up-to-date collection of informational resources in the most
useful formats;
Develop and continuously update a sound, ongoing Technology Plan;
Provide community information and educational, career & employment
resources.

II. Support Lifelong Learning |
Provide courteous, trained staff assistance in locating, evaluating and using
information resources using technology and creative approaches to access world-wide
resources;
Provide barrier-free access to a varied collection of materials and programs
for all age levels to support individual learning, formal education systems and local programs;
Provide materials and
programs to support the recreational, special interest and entertainment
needs of the community.

III. Collect, Organize and Preserve Our Local History |
Actively Seek new sources of materials that are pertinent to the Kingsville
area, the County and the Western Reserve of Ohio;
Organize the existing collection into useable, searchable formats;
Preserve the Local Collection in useful and appropriate formats to assure its
protection and viability.

IV. Provide an Active,
Ongoing, Coordinated Approach to Public Relations |
Promote the library, its mission
and programs to the community;
Respond to the changing needs of the community;

V. Provide an Adequate,
Pleasant Library Facility that Meets the Community Needs |
Part A: Building and
Equipment:
Maintain and improve the library to be functional and a welcoming
gathering place;
Study and plan for future building and equipment needs to serve as basis
for library development;
|
Part B: Human Resources:
Recruit and retain quality staff;\
Maintain a pleasant work environment with adequate space and comfort for
performance of assigned tasks;
|
Part C: Financial
Resources:
Provide adequate resources for the operation of the library that reflect
the needs of the library and the community.
|
To Provide these Services, the Library will move in the following Strategic
Directions:

Improve the collection and enhance access to materials, resources and services;
w Maintain
and improve the library to be a welcoming gathering place;
w Recruit
and retain quality staff;
w Use
technology to enhance service;
w Develop
community partnerships;
w Secure
additional funding;
w Increase
library programs and promotion.

To Ensure Quality Library Services the Library shall:
w
Provide open access to all library resources;
w Provide
services to all members of the community equally;
w Respond
to the changing needs of the community;
w Explore
and implement innovative technologies;
w Promote
continuous learning and provide training opportunities for administration
and staff;
w Employ
cost-effective methods and effective, efficient use of the Library facilities.
