Benjamin "Red Mill" built by
Nelson Benjamin circa 1850 for sawing lumber. Located "in the bend"
of the Conneaut on the north side of the South Ridge Road. The
property was purchased by C.T. McGoun to be run as a "Burr Mill" in 1881,
making wooden bowls. The McGoun house can be seen at left on the
hill above the mill. It was formerly the property of Calvin Luce who
built the original house in 1840. Calvin Luce did not own the mill
property. View is looking East from across the Conneaut Creek
at Mill Street. |
